Main Guard Reflected

Main Guard Building, Valletta

Valletta, Malta

On that day the weather in Valletta was very changeable, passing from rain to sun in just a few minutes. Good Thing(!) because the wet tiles of St George’s Square mirrored the clouds and the Main Guard building in a wonderful way.

The Sun in the Net

Trabocco Pesce Palombo

Costa dei trabocchi, Abruzzo, Italy

So there! Finally, the sun rises from the quiet waters of the Adriatic Sea. It was a beautiful morning with no wind. The sea was calm. I moved a few steps to place the sun right behind the fishing net of the Trabocco Pesce Palombo in Fossacesia. So that the sun truly seems caught in the net.

Trabocco at Dawn

The trabocco Pesce Palombo at dawn, Fossacesia, Costa dei trabocchi, Abruzzo, Italy.

Trabocco is a wooden fishing platform typical of Abruzzo region, Italy. There was a time that entire families lived of the catch of a Trabocco. Alas, nowadays fishing on a Trabocco is no longer profitable. So many of these Trabocco were converted into fish restaurants as the Trabocco Pesce Palombo in Fossacesia.

To take this photo I had to face a tough early rising. I arrived when it was still dark. With the first light the color of the sky and the sea began to change quickly with various shades of blue and orange. After placing the camera on the tripod I started shooting photos.I shoot this frame at 4:56 am, almost half an hour before the rising of the sun.

A tip for shooting at dawn: the night before prepare coffee thermos to bring along next morning.

Zurich, When it Gets Dark

In these days of autumn gets dark early in Zurich. The street lamps light up soon, and the churches and palaces of the old town get lit up. My favorite time of the day begins, the blue hour.
