The Aeolian Islands are a volcanic archipelago north of Sicily, in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. Named after the wind god Aeolus, a great way to visit them is on a sailing boat. And I did it! In early July, along with two friends, I sailed around the islands of Vulcano, Lipari, Panarea and Stromboli – four of the seven islands that form this archipelago.
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by things you didn’t do than by things that you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.
This quote is attributed to Mark Twain. And Mark is also the name of the tillerman in the picture above. He is a good friend of mine and I’m sure that he really appreciates the strong exhortation of this quote.
