I visited Venice, Italy, in late November and I could witness the phenomenon of acqua alta (high water), typical in autumn. The flooding was modest and only on St. Mark’s square, the lower area of the city.

Trabocco Sasso della Cajana

We are in the Trabocchi coast in Abruzzo,Italy. A Trabocco is a wooden platform that is (was) used to catch the passing fishes. For long time the inhabitants of this stretch of Adriatic coast lived of the catch of these Trabocchi. Alas, this kind of fishing is no longer profitable. So, in our days, many of these Trabocchi have been converted into fish restaurants. So the Trabocco Sasso della Cajana in Vallevò. Ah, originally Trabocchi had no eletric light, of course.
