Taormina at Night

When it gets dark in Taormina the lights come on and life moves on the pedestrian main street Corso Umberto I for the evening stroll. People gather mainly in Piazza IX Aprile and Piazza Duomo. Tourists find along the Corso and Piazzas restaurants, shops and bars while locals go there above all to see and be seen. I was there in mid-March and there was not yet the usual crowd of warmer months. The island of Ortigia is the historic center of the city of Siracusa, Sicily. I think it can be considered a true open-air museum with monuments that tell the story of the Mediterranean of the last three millennia (see my last post). I was photographing the Cathedral of Reggio Calabria lit up at night. A lady stopped in front of me making a series of mobile photos. How irritating! However, I continued to photograph with the lady in the foreground. Well, in the end it was the best photo of that evening. Many thanks to the unknown lady.
