An Early Spring on Lake Iseo

The 2019 edition of European Best Destinations ranked Monte Isola on Lake Iseo in third place.  The weather forecast was excellent. Two good reasons to go.

Lake Iseo (Italian Lago d’Iseo) is one of the pre-alpine lakes of northern Italy. Smaller than the other lakes of the region, Lake Iseo contains the largest lake island in southern and central Europe: precisely Monte Isola, the award-winning one.

I was there in late February and I was lucky enough to have some wonderful days of sunshine. The trees were still bare and the mountains around the lake were brown. However, the green of the olive groves and the deep blue of the lake have contributed to give me that Mediterranean feeling I needed so much.
